Friday Floorplan Day: Upscale Condos in Ichigaya — European Charm Meets Traditional Japan

It’s Friday again in Tokyo! It’s been cold and wet the last few days here. We hope you have a warm and cozy weekend planned.

This week, Friday Floorplan is headed to Ichigaya, an area that straddles Shinjuku and Chiyoda wards. Ichigaya, along with the neighborhoods of Yotsuya and Iidabashi, have long been favorites of European, especially French ex-pats; the Lycee Franco-Japonais is located here as well as some of Tokyo’s finest French restaurants. Just to the southeast of Ichigaya is the Imperial Palace. Being in the center of Tokyo, Ichigaya also offers an abundance of public transportation, including a JR station and three subway lines. This area is an excellent choice if you are looking for quiet residential neighborhoods that mix traditional Japan with European charm.

In this week’s matchup, Property 1 is a 3LDK (150.41 square meter) condo located about 4 minutes from Ichigaya Station. Take a look at the unusual placement of the kitchen at the center of living-dining area, and the all the closets! This property lists for 135 million yen. Property 2 is also a 3LDK (153.78 square meter) condo, located near the station. This floorplan also offers great storage space, with both a walk-in-closet and a trunk room. Property 2 lists for 248 million yen.

Which floorplan would you like to come home to?

Thank you to everyone who voted! It was a dead tie this week, with each property getting fifty percent of the votes.
