The North-Eastern moat of the Imperial Palace known as Chidorigafuchi is one of the most famous cherry-blossom viewing spots right in the heart of central Tokyo. Crowds gather between Kudanshita and Hanzomon stations to enjoy the many Sakura trees the park has to offer which can be viewed by car, rowboat, or on foot.
Chidorigafuchi Park is also of historical signfigance being a part of the Imperial Palace grounds. Although it dates back much further than the Edo period the park was officially opened in 1919 during the Taisho period. along the outer moat of the Imperial Palace
The footpath along Uchibori Street and the Imperial Palace moat provide excellent views of cherry blossom trees and the waterway of the moat outside the palace walls. For those seeking a more romantic vantage you can rent a rowboat across from Yasukuni Shrine. At night, Hanami goers can enjoy a new spectacle as the trees are all lit and looking even more colorful.
The moat path and boat arena are accessible from both Kudanshita & Hanzomon stations
